This is true. As of January 18th, there have been 47 illnesses and 10 hospitalizations across 22 states, including Missouri, Nebraska, Maryland, and Colorado, due to salmonella contamination. The Busseto brand Charcuterie Sampler sold at Sam’s Club and Fratelli Beretta brand Antipasto Gran Beretta sold at Costco have been recalled. These products contain dried meats including salami and prosciutto. The CDC advises against eating these products from any lot number. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have severe Salmonella symptoms like fever, bloody diarrhea or dehydration.

The recalled brands are sold at both Cosco and Sam’s club.

As of January 18^th, there have been 47 illnesses and 10 hospitalizations due to the outbreaks. In the U.S., cases were reported in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. These items could be sold in additional states at any Cosco or Sam’s Club.

Those infected with salmonella can experience symptoms including abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and fever. Symptoms can take up to three days to appear and can last up to 7 days.

The CDC recommends that consumers, restaurants, and retailers search their inventory and freezers to throw out the recalled products and thoroughly wash any surfaces they may have touched.

After removing the items, it is important to follow the FDA’s guidelines on how to clean hands and the impacted surfaces to prevent further illness.
